Our 3-day, 2-night private tour from San Pedro Sula to Copán Ruinas is crafted to deliver just that: connection, discovery, and lasting memories. Join us and journey through living landscapes, legendary ruins, and encounters with nature’s most brilliant colors—the kind you’ll dream of long after you return home.

If you ache for an experience that balances ancient marvels, authentic encounters, and personalized attention, you're in the right place. Here, every detail has you in mind—whether you travel solo, with a loved one, or explore with friends or family. We handle the logistics so you’re free to tune into the gentle hum of the countryside, the wisdom of your guide, and the splendor of Mayan artistry.

From the very first "buenos días" at your hotel in lively San Pedro Sula to the last moments savoring Honduran coffee on the return drive, this is a journey built on warmth, curiosity, and cultural exchange. We believe that history truly comes alive when told by those who love it, so your friendly local guide weaves not only facts but also the personal stories, legends, and laughter that bring each destination alive.

Unlike generic group tours, this is your own story—unfolding at your pace. Private transport, flexible scheduling, and your own guide mean you can linger where your heart leads—from the shadowy tunnels of Copán to the vibrant feathers of free-flying macaws. If you want to pause for impromptu photos, a coffee break in a hidden café, or have a little extra time bartering for crafts at the town market, just ask. Your adventure is as unique as you are.

Day 1: Welcome to Honduras – From Urban Heartbeat to Ancient Echoes

Your private driver and guide greet you at your hotel or San Pedro Sula airport. Whether you arrive filled with excitement or need a reassuring smile, your journey begins with comfort and kindness. Sit back in an air-conditioned private vehicle as the city’s energy fades into the gentle, fertile countryside. Feel the shift—as busy streets give way to lush valleys, rolling hills, and small villages.

The route carries you northwest through a region steeped in centuries of exchange and migration. Soon, the first taste of history is yours at the El Puente Archaeological Site. Often overlooked, El Puente is a true gem for the curious—a quieter site where you can actually walk among ruins and feel the hush of undisturbed plazas. With far fewer visitors than grander Mayan cities, El Puente grants you space to let your imagination roam, picturing ancient traders arriving from distant lands.

Your guide brings these stones to life, sharing the fascinating connection between Copán and El Puente, including the mysteries of trade, royal customs, and even the quirks of ancient architecture (did you know some of El Puente’s builders left their mark in the uneven stairways and creative stonework?). Explore recently excavated tombs and see ceramics and jade artifacts in the surprisingly modern onsite museum. It’s an intimate first encounter with the region’s layered past, and a gentle introduction for history buffs or anyone craving a less-crowded perspective on Mayan civilization.

El Puente Archeological Site, Copan, Honduras

Refreshed by stories and perhaps a short stroll, it’s back on the road—destination: the enchanting town of Copán Ruinas. The rolling valleys yield panoramic mountain views, coffee plantations, and colorful glimpses of rural life along the way. Arrive at your handpicked hotel and settle into your room, designed for restful comfort and the perfect launching pad for exploration. Perhaps you’ll step out for a first wander through Copán’s cobbled lanes, savoring its colonial charm and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee drifting from local cafés. Welcome to one of Honduras’s cultural treasures, a place where hospitality is not just a service, but a way of life.

Sleep in Copán Ruinas—under starry skies, with the subtle anticipation of tomorrow’s discoveries.

Day 2: Journey to the Center of the Mayan World – Tunnels, Temples, and Sculpture

Wake up to the sounds of a town that strikes a balance between lively and tranquil. Let yourself linger over a delicious breakfast, or a sweet pastry dusted with local chocolate. Maybe greet friendly locals or barter for aromatic coffee beans.

When ready, your guide leads you through the gateway to one of the world’s greatest archaeological wonders: the Copán Mayan Ruins. Let the adventure deepen as you stroll beneath ceiba trees and the vibrant wings of scarlet macaws circling freely above—the living legacy of the Maya and their reverence for nature. Feel the cool shade and the rising anticipation as you approach a UNESCO World Heritage Site called "the Paris of the Mayan world" for its unmatched artistry and elegance.

Copán Ruins Tour Highlights:

  • Acropolis and Tunnels: Descend beneath the surface to explore the extraordinary tunnels—an experience few Mayan sites allow. Here, cool stone reveals the earliest temples, crypts, and even the extraordinary replica of the Rosalila Temple, famed for its vibrant stucco and preserved colors. Feel the hush, the awe, and the wonder as your guide shares the story of sacred kings, sacrifice, and artistic renewal.

  • Hieroglyphic Staircase: Marvel at 63 broad steps, each covered with intricate glyphs—one of the longest texts from the ancient Americas. Hear how its story, scrambled by centuries and earthquakes, is still being decoded, offering new insights into Copán's rulers.

  • The Ball Court: Stand where athletes once vied for glory and ritual, in a game that was part sport, part sacred drama. Imagine the crowds, the stakes, and the echoes through time.

  • The Great Plaza: Step into a tableau of stelae—towering stone monuments, each with its own portrait and secrets. Your guide explains their origins, mythologies, and mathematical precision.

  • Las Sepulturas: a quieter residential sector where the daily life of ancient Copán’s elite is preserved. This is where you see not just temples, but the living spaces, tombs, and intricate courtyards that made Copán a bustling city.

Back in town, the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy. Take a leisurely walk through Copán’s historic square, watch scarlet macaws preening in the trees, or stop by a café for smooth, chocolatey Honduran coffee and fresh pastries. You might want to browse for souvenirs—handwoven textiles, quirky folk art, or bags of locally grown beans to share the taste of Honduras back home.

Day 3: Macaw Mountain and Return

The third day greets you with the possibility of a gentle adventure amid birdsong and tropical foliage. After breakfast, say goodbye to your hotel and let your guide escort you to the lush oasis of Macaw Mountain Bird Park & Nature Reserve.

Here, the air is alive with color and life. Witness vibrant scarlet macaws, toucans, owls, and dozens of rescued native birds living among gardens and centuries-old trees. Learn about the extraordinary conservation efforts to restore native populations—especially the scarlet macaw, Honduras’s national bird. As you stroll the shaded paths, you’ll encounter birds that have been rescued, rehabilitated, and—delightfully—many that now soar freely not just in the park, but throughout Copán and its ruins.

Your visit isn’t just about seeing; it’s about understanding. Witness the gentle work of the park’s team, discover how macaws moved from sacred Mayan symbol to almost vanishing, and now, thanks to local and international collaboration, flourish in the wild again. You may have the chance for up-close photos (no touching or stress for the birds—ethics and well-being always come first), or simply linger in the open café as the birds fly, chatter, and preen all around you.

Words from Our Guests....

10/10 experience with a 10/10 tour guide

This was such a well thought out trip! My mother and I enjoyed each destination that Kerim planned out for us and even accommodated us on the way back so we could see more things in the beautiful country of Honduras (including the pit stop to get the most authentic of pupusas). We had so much fun and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. This trip will hold such a special place in my heart.

Thank you, Kerim!!! I hope everyone can have a great time like we did.

Amazing Tour Guide

I went on this tour with a group of 2 friends. Before booking I read a lot of reviews because we were worried about traveling alone as females but we felt very safe on this whole trip. Kerim is very respectful and very professional! He has a lot of knowledge about Honduras. Once you meet him you feel like you know him because he keeps in communication with you up until you arrive for your tour. I highly recommend iCatracho Tours!

A wonderful Honduran and Mayan tour.

Kerim was a fantastic guide. We wanted to learn about Mayans and Honduras today, and he certainly delivered and exceeded our expectations. First he took us to El Puente which sets the stage for the incredible Mayan civilization and helped us understand the context of the Mayans in the broader Central American world. At the main site he made sure that we had the best professional guide who patiently answered all of our questions and stayed with us right up until the place closed.

Kerim also understands the importance of timing for an optimal experience. He took us to the Hot Springs, ensuring that we arrived at sunset so that we could experience the magical place all to ourselves without crowds. He took us to the macaw sanctuary in the early morning when the birds are feeding quietly and are easy to observe. We took up his suggestion to take a loop route back to San Pedro Sula from Gracias and La Esperanza, giving us the opportunity to see the incredible beauty of the Honduran countryside, visit a small coffee farm and café, and experience the Lenca world. Along the way we learned about Honduras today and the incredible difficulties that the country is dealing with.

Most importantly Kerim is a very safe and cautious driver, his car is spotless, he keeps extra bottled water available at all times. We felt that he took incredible care of us, and that we were with a trusted friend at all times. So yes, five stars for Kerim!
